The Buttevant community and Avondhu Blackwater Partnership have just finished several months’ hard work with the publication of the Buttevant Area Enhancement Plan.
This plan sets out the needs of the town as defined by the community. Recently Buttevant has started to pay more attention to its impressive heritage including the Town Walls, Buttevant Castle, The Friary and Ballybeg Abbey. These features tell a fascinating story of the town for residents and tourists alike.
This plan was put together after a series of regular meetings where Buttevant residents met with Avondhu Blackwater’s Cathal O’Meara who assisted with the drawing up of the Plan. Attendance at each of these meetings has been very good, and shows the motivation of the community.
The purpose of this plan is to put the communities needs at the forefront for the town. In this respect this plan differs from all other plans for the area as this plan concerns what the residents see as their most pressing needs.
