Fermoy Enterprise Board and Fermoy Credit Union, in conjunction with main sponsor McCarthy Insurance Group , are proud to announce that this coming November 8th in the Corrin Event centre they will host the Fermoy Area Sports and Community Awards.
This is the first staging of such Awards in the Fermoy Area for many years. In the past, Fermoy Business Association very successfully organised the local area Sport and Community Awards and the event was one of the highlights of the sporting and social calendar for many years.
The awards are being revived by Fermoy Enterprise Board with the aim of acknowledging outstanding people and organisations whom, through their commitment to participation in sports, community and voluntary activities have had a significant impact on the quality of life in the Fermoy Area.
Fermoy Enterprise Board is delighted to host the Sports and Community Awards night and we are sincerely grateful to McCarthy Insurance Group for their generous support in the venture. Many individuals, groups and organisations make invaluable contributions to the community be that in the voluntary sector or in their sports endeavours. Our wish is that such people are formally recognised so that we can publicly acknowledge their efforts and achievements. It is also our wish to honour very special and talented individuals who have achieved excellence and represented our community at the highest level. Many of these individuals are unsung heroes who go quietly about their business in the community.
The awards will acknowledge outstanding people and organisations who, through their commitment to participating in community, voluntary and sporting activities, have had a positive and significant impact on the quality of life of their communities in the Fermoy Area. We invite and encourage you to please put their names forward for these Awards as these individuals, groups, clubs and organisations make such an invaluable contribution to our town and community. There will be 10 awards in total consisting of 7 Sports Awards including a Hall of Fame Award and 3 Community Awards. These awards recognise and honour Individuals, Sports Clubs, Teams, Community Groups or Anyone Else who has made a significant contribution locally, whether it is in sport or by their voluntary effort in the community.
The awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner to be held in Corrin Event Centre on the October Bank weekend – Saturday 8th November 2014. Tickets are €40 for this event and this will include a cheese and wine reception, 4 course meal , dancing to great band and a great night of merriment. On the night the Award Winners will be honoured and from the 10 recipients there will one Overall Award Winner. This Special Award will only be announced on the night and will add a lot of suspense to get attendance in the mood for some wonderful entertainment and a great night. We are also very grateful for the support of Fermoy Credit Union who are sponsoring the Band and Reception at the Gala Dinner.
We hope that this become an annual event in the Fermoy Area Social calendar. Tickets for the event are on sale now and we expect that there will be high demand given the size of the community and the need to celebrate their local heroes. The awards will be open to all Clubs, Sports People, Community and Voluntary Groups in Fermoy and surrounding areas such as Castlelyons, Ballynoe, Conna, Rathcormac, Ballyhooley, Kilworth, Bartlemy and all areas in between. Nominations may be submitted by any individual, Club or Group within this area.
