Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is delighted to announce the expansion of the Handyman and Telephone Befriending Services for older people – under the umbrella of Community Connect – to the West Waterford areas of Lismore, Cappoquin, Tallow and Ballyduff. In addition to these services, the company intends to provide an advocacy service to assist senior citizens in areas in which they may experience difficulties (form filling, for example), to support them in the raising of concerns they may have about services, and to access information about their rights and entitilements.
People are often faced with a tough decision when it comes to choosing a handyman to enter their home or the home of their ageing parent(s). The Community Connect service offered by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership removes any risk-taking, as handymen employed by the service are Garda Vetted and insured. The service helps to ensure that older people can live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s handyman, John, brings a range of skills to the service, ensuring that a greater array of tasks can be undertaken. These tasks include, but are not limited to, gardening, cleaning, painting, light carpentry and fitting security measures, and John will handle as many small tasks as clients need.
The befriending telephone service administered by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership provides social contact for people who may be housebound, lonely or isolated, and is run by trained and experienced people.
You or your ageing parent might like to have a light-hearted chat, or to discuss current affairs, the weather, gardening, or any number of other topics. Regular conversation reduces the feeling of loneliness and isolation, and improve one’s quality of life and wellbeing.
