The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has been in touch to let me know that their ‘Check it Fits’ Service will be visiting Lidl Car Park on 16th of January from 10am to 5.30pm.This is a really worthwhile service so I would like to sharesome information about the service with you and would encourage you to do likewise with your family, friends and colleagues.
About the ‘Check it Fits’ Service
The ‘Check it Fits’ Service is now a fulltime, nationwide service which will be visiting every county in Ireland over the coming months. ‘Check it Fits’ will provide a free expert checking service that will help parents and guardians fit their child’s car seat correctly and give them peace of mind that their child is travelling safely.
Unfortunately, in Ireland, fitting child car seats is still a significant cause for concern and as many as 3 out of 4 child car seats may be fitted incorrectly. And sadly, if a child car seat is not fitted correctly, it could lead to a serious or fatal injury in the event of a collision.
How you can help
The RSA has provided me with some material (see: attached documents) which can be adapted and circulated. My hope is that you will circulate this material to your network of contacts as is appropriate.
The documents include a poster that can be tailored for each event, and the RSA has also provided sample tweets and posts for use on your social media pages along with imagery that would work well online and on Facebook and Twitter to help to promote the Service. You may need to adjust the date on these depending on when you wish to use them.
If you require any further information on ‘Check it Fits’, contact checkitfits@rsa.ie.
Thanks for supporting this worthwhile campaign that will help to keep children safe on our roads.
Best wishes
