It has been almost three years since Blackwater Outdoor Activities opened their doors in Castletownroche offering an array of fun filled outdoor adventure activities. The company, who are based in Blackwater Castle, have a range of activities that now includes archery, zip line, obstacle course, laser clay pigeon shooting, zorbing and karting.

One of the enterprise success stories of North Cork in recent years, Blackwater Outdoor Activities have expanded their market to include stag and hen weekends, corporate team building, school tours and summer camps as well as accommodating wedding parties that have chosen Blackwater Castle for their venue.

Avondhu Blackwater Partnership grant funded part of the expansion of the company by providing support for the purchase of equipment, which Blackwater Outdoor used to expand their range of activities. This has allowed them to carve a distinctive niche for themselves and establish a reputation for a great day out at competitive prices.

“There is a strong symbiotic relationship between Blackwater Outdoor Activities and Blackwater Castle with the Castle lands containing forestry and rivers that are perfect for outdoor activities. This kind of partnership may be a model others can follow, where the strengths of different businesses can be brought together to mutual benefit” according to Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CEO Valerie Murphy.

Experience the fright of your life on this hair-raising, high-wire trek in the dark of night. You will laugh, cry and perhaps even Pee all at the same time!

Travelling in low visibility nervously wind your way around the Castle Estate. The trek involves a number of zip lines, joined by a network of paths and forest trails which are packed with a feast of frights, Devilish beasts, specialist lighting and sound effects along the way, sure to send shivers down your spine and set your hearts racing.

Guaranteed to be unlike any other experience you’ll have had and in the perfect haunted setting of a 12th Century Castle Estate. This event is a safe and exciting Halloween adventure for Adults and teenagers however it would not suitable for children under 10years old. The whole experience will take approximately 1hour to complete.
