Coming up very shortly (and a few spaces still available) is the WORKLINKS programme (based in Mallow in April/May/June 2013). This is designed for people who may be unemployed for some time and are feeling very distant from the Labour Market.
The programme is designed to support progression into education, training or employment as appropriate for individuals. The group is particualry well suited to men aged over 35 who find themselves unemployed, perhaps from what are now obsolete sectors. This grouping can find it very hard to adjust to their new circumstances and to see hope for future opportunities.
The programme is part-time and runs three mornings a week for twelve weeks and will start in Mallow on Tuesday 23rd April. The course is FREE of charge and does not affect social welfare entitlements.
The programme will take clear account of the debilitlating effects of unemployment and will aim to rebuild and restore confidence and self–esteem, provide information on training options and offer participants the opportunity to gain a qualification that is well recognised and marketable to employers.
Who is eligible to apply:
The Training courses outlined here are fully subsidised by the LCDP programme and as such are FREE of charge to eligible applicants and do not affect social welfare entitlements. Those who are eligible are;
- Living in the Avondhu Blackwater Partnership area
- Unemployed and on the Live Register
- Interested in progressing towards employment
- Note: while priority will be given to those who are on the Live Register one year or more, male and over 35 years old , there are a small percentage of spaces within groups reserved for those who are unemployed less than one year, or unemployed and not on the Live Register.
