New Challenges for Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s Tús Workers in 2013

2013 will see more achievements and commitments from Avondhu Blackwater Partnership Tús workers. 2012 was a momentous year for those involved in the Tús community work placement initiative. Participants provided much needed support for Community and Voluntary Groups by utilising their skills and talents to achieve goals and deliver results in the Community. It is exceptional what can be achieved in the Community when the necessary labour and talent is available according to Adrian Murphy, Tús Supervisor with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership.

He continued ‘Avondhu Blackwater Partnership began administering Tús in 2011 but 2012 was a very successful year as all the procedures for a successful delivery of the initiative were fully in place. We were happy that many diverse community and voluntary groups took up our invitation to avail of the Tús initiative, thus allowing us to create high quality and diverse roles from Charity shop workers, to administration roles and from Caretakers, Youth Mentors to Receptionists to mention a few.

Meanwhile last year saw Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s Roaming Team carry out successful community and village enhancement in areas like Watergrasshill, Lombardstown, Ballyclough and Glantane. This Roaming team of skilled maintenance workers and labourers will continue their work this year, having made a remarkable impression last year on all the communities that sought their assistance. A representative from Watergrasshill Community Council, to provide one example, stated before Christmas that our village is looking alot better as a result of the work carried out by the team.

Avondhu Blackwater Partnership takes great pride in ensuring overall that the role suits the individual on Tús and is one that will allow existing skills to be utilised and new skills to be obtained during the year. According to Adrian, ‘the pool of talent and personal commitment of the Tús workers out there is exceptional’. Therefore Avondhu Blackwater Partnership would encourage any community or voluntary groups in the Avondhu Blackwater Partnership area who has not availed of Tús to contact the Tús Supervisors on 025-33411 to obtain a simple application form.
