Cork SportsAbility Day 2012

The Cork Sports Partnership and the Cork SportsAbility Forum in conjunction with UCC Disability week 2012 are hosting this year’s ‘SportsAbility Day’ in the Mardyke Arena on Saturday the 8th of December from 12-3pm. The aim of ‘Sports Ability Day’ is to showcase the range of sports activities available to people with disabilities, all of which are available in Cork.

Our message is simple, ‘sport is for everyone’ and the SportsAbility Day is open to anyone who shares our interest in sport and physical activity whether they are participants, a disability organisation, parents, friends or coaches.

We would like to encourage individuals, groups and families to come, experience and participate in a fun environment. We will be demonstrating that, regardless of ability, there is a sport out there for everyone to get involved in.

We have it all, from soccer, to wheelchair rugby, to cycling, to wheelchair basketball, to boccia, and more, and most importantly, they are all available in Cork. It is a fantastic opportunity for people with a disability to come along and experience all that ability sports has to offer in Cork.

The showcase will be of tremendous interest to the many organisations in Cork who work with people with a disability. The Irish Wheelchair Association, Special Olympics Munster and the Cope Foundation are among the many representatives of organisations expected to attend the free event.
