Some of the supports coming up in the Mallow and Fermoy areas this autumn include the following, for more information on these and other supports, please contact the office at 025 33411.

Career Skills Workshops:

The very successful Career Skills Workshop series will be run again in the Mallow and Fermoy area in September 2012.  Places are very limited and filling fast.  Delivered over three mornings, the focus will be on helping jobseekers to develop stronger job seeking skills, create and update an appropriate CV, and to prepare well for interviews. Participatnts will have a fully constructed personal CV on completion.  The course is ideal for those who want a fast and practical support delivered over three mornings.  There are only a few places left on each of these workshops. please ring Caitriona at 025/33411 if you are interested in securing one of the remaining places.   Mallow course will run on Wednesday 12th, 19th and 26th September.  Fermoy course will run  on Thursday 13th 20th and 27th September.

If interested, please contact Caitriona (025 33411) to make application.

IT for the Workplace:

Ideal for those interested in computers but who need upskilling to cope with changing and developing IT requirements in employment.  Also ideal for the person who wishes to pursue further training in a very specific IT sector but would like a broad taster Introduction to careers in the IT industry.

Often Job Seekers require an understanding of how IT is applied in the workplace, such as in warehousing, distribution, transport and  logistics positions as a means of transferring their skills to new work areas. The crucial point is that this course is designed to faciliate those who perhaps do not have formal qualifications but have relevant work experience and who have transferrable skills that can be fine-tuned with specific training provision.

This course has been designed to form a broad taster of IT applications in workplace settings.  It will provide a step towards more specific indepth training for some and provide a practical aptitude for IT in work places for others.

Participants do not need to have extensive knowledge in IT but they do need to have an interest in computer languages, computer programming and how it applies in the work place.  (it is not a word processing type training, nor is it for those who are very unsure around computers!)

There is an entry criteria for this course and very limited places, if you think this course can help you in your route towards employment, please contact us to discuss.  Contact Caitriona Horgan 025 33411

Jobs Clinics Mallow and Fermoy:

Job Clinics offer people an opportunity to meet a Development Officer on a one to one basis to discuss their needs and to support them in their job seeking efforts.  CV supports, information on education, training opportunities and on other support services available are given on a one to one and confidential basis.

Contact Mary Duane for the Mallow area  (086 8525992 or 025 33411) and Aine Moher for the Fermoy area 025 33411

Please phone to secure an apppointment.

Career Coach Support:

The Career Coach service is a one to one support that is available to those who are uemployed and who need help in working out a plan of action.  (places are limited and always in demand so please book early to get on waiting list)  Emphasis will be on helping the individual to explore options, look at their strenghts, interests, experience, etc and to devise a personal plan of action.  The individual will be guided on further education and training options appropriate to their needs.  The focus will be on maximising opportunities for gaining employment.

If interested, please contact Caitriona (025 33411) to make application.

Train the Trainer:  (FETAC 6)

The Train the Trainer course has been very successful for people who are finding new ways to transfer their skills into the area of training.  Participants must have a good grounding in their own subject area because the course focuses on the development of actual trainer skills not on the content of the training programme they wish to deliver.  Very often people who are unemployed have extensive experience and  knowledge in their particular area but need help in developing their training and delivery skills.   This Train the Trainer programme will give the participant  the knowledge, practical skills and competencies necessary to Design, Deliver and Assess training courses.  Only a few places left on this course for September.  For more information please contact Caitriona Horgan 025 33411

The supports outlined above are fully funded under the LCDP (Local Community Development Programme) for eligible participants.  There are limited places available so early application is advisable.  Eligible participants are those job seekers/unemployed people living in the Avondhu Blackwater Partnership area who wish to be supported towards employment.
