Blackwater Book Worms!

Here at Avondhu Blackwater ‘Blackwater Community Connect’ we want to start up an online book club called Blackwater Book Worms. It’s a great opportunity for people with an interest in reading to be part of a social group without having to leave the comfort of their own home, which eliminates problems of mobility and transport issues some people may have.

The aim is to use Skype or an online meeting room, both of which are free and allow a number of people to talk in a group regardless of their location. All you need is a computer and an Internet connection. A crash course in Skype or online meeting rooms will be provided for those who need it. We’ll also have a Facebook page for any book club updates and for any comments, discussions or suggestions the book club members would like to make.

If you cant get out of the house much, are a bit shy about meeting new people face to face or just want a comfortable atmosphere to have fun and chat about books then this is the place for you. You never know, you could even make some new friends along the way.

We’ve supplied an online survey to try to gather information to see what days, times, genres etc. would suit most people so we can cater to everyone’s needs as best as we can.  If you could take a few minutes to fill in the survey we would greatly appreciate the feedback.

If you know any friends or family members that might be interested in the online book club please feel free to spread the word.

Should you have any questions or want to find out a bit more about the online book club you can e-mail us at blackwaterbookworms@gmail.com or phone on 025 33411 and speak to Trudy Quirke or Mary Allen.

Please click on the survey link and thank you for your co-operation [SURVEY LINK]
