As part of the overall strategy to support people who are experiencing unemployment, Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is currently developing its programme of training opportunities for 2012. The opportunities outlined below are specifically aimed at those focusing on moving towards employment and are developed from needs identified that will help people to up-skill and enhance their prospects of employment. The courses are fully funded by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership under the Local Community Development Programme (LCDP) and give priority to those experiencing unemployment.
As part of the unveiling of the 2012 jobs initiative, Sean Sherlock TD, Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation and Education & Skills will launch Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s Jobs Clinic on 27th Feb at 11.00 at Le Cheile, Mallow.
Among the range of initiatives that have been announced are:
Jobs Clinics: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Le Cheile Family Resource Centre Mallow, and Wednesdays in the Fermoy Community Resource Centre. Contact Aine on (025) 33411 or (025) 32962 (Fermoy), and Norma on (086) 8525992 (Mallow) to arrange an appointment time.
Career Coaching:
Help for people who are unemployed or job insecure to develop options for themselves. Meetings with the Career Coach are by appointment only.
Small Financial supports for Training towards employment.
A limited amount of small grants are available for people seeking strategic training to move towards employment.
Worklinks: for young people who need a supported guide towards employment
Three sessions per week for twelve weeks. The priority age group targeted for this course is 18-25 although this is not exclusive.
Job Skills Workshops:
CV updating, focus on Job Seeking and Interview skills etc. Workshops are run over three mornings.
All supports outlined above are free of charge and do not affect any social welfare entitlements you may be accessing.
