Blackwater Community Connect provides reliable help at a reduced rate when you have tasks that are too much for most older people but too small to hire in a contractor. If you need shelves fitted, a leaking tap fixed, hedges cut or your gutters cleaned then read on. Our handyman is Garda Vetted, fully insured and will tackle most jobs around the house and garden.
With winter just around the corner what does your yard and garden look like? Sometimes we can put that backbreaking work on the long finger, putting it off for another day and sometimes that day doesn’t come again until the spring. Fallen leaves may look attractive on a crisp autumn day but they soon become a hazard when the rain comes. They can cause flooding by blocking drains and gutters and they can also be dangerous underfoot, especially for older people. Now is the time to get those tasks seen to before we settle down for the long winter.
Following is a list of tasks covered by our handyman service:
- All gardening tasks
- Hedge Cutting
- Cleaning Gutters
- Cleaning Fascia & Soffit
- Cleaning Chimney
- Cleaning Windows
- Fitting Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors
- Installing safety equipment (handrails etc.)
- Installing door peep hole, and door chains
- Clearing drains
As you head into the winter it is also advisable to make sure you test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they work. It is advisable to have a fire extinguisher or replace an existing one if it is old. Following the harshness of last winter we are all advised to be aware of the location of our water main in the event that we need to turn it off in an emergency. Any exposed plumbing pipes should be insulated to prevent freezing. If you use a fireplace or stove to keep warm you should clean out any build up from last winter. Having the chimney cleaned can prevent the soot build-up from causing a chimney-fire.
Gift vouchers in denominations of €10 & €20 are now available so if you are wondering what to buy for your friends, neighbours, parents or older relatives then why not consider giving a practical gift that will be well received. If you require the use of the handyman or indeed if you wish to purchase some Gift Vouchers then contact Mary at 025/33411 or email email@example.com
