Avondhu Blackwater Partnership invites applications from suitably qualified individuals interested in leading our strategic development of the villages and towns in our area. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Rural Development Business Plan of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership Ltd in North East Cork. S/he will promote the development of LEADER actions under the Village and Countryside Renewal And Development, Basic Services for the Economy and Rural Population, amongst other measures under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.
The successful candidate will focus on working with community groups to secure the enhancement of villages, small towns and the surrounding countryside in the Avondhu Blackwater area of operation. Actions will be aimed at enhancing the environmental, amenity and surface structural aspects of these communities, and as such, will compliment other measures, particularly tourism and conservation of the local heritage. S/he will address this brief on a full-time basis working with the LEADER project team and will be provided with the necessary facilities in our offices in Fermoy, Co. Cork.
Job Specification
The successful candidate should have:
- A relevant third level qualification in Landscape Architecture.
- A clear understanding of the principles of rural/community development
- Experience of project planning, development and appraisal
- Motivated to work within a small team and to undertake a variety of tasks as required by the organisation
- Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
- Good report writing and presentation skills as well as strong IT skills including landscape/project visualization skills.
- Strong administration, analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to manage a diverse workload, work on own initiative with good time management skills
- A proven track record in landscape development as well as knowledge of the area would be an advantage
- Available to work flexible hours in accordance with the community/voluntary sector
- Have a detailed knowledge of the ‘Rural Development Programme’ (2007 – 2013) within a national and EU context
- Outline of proposed methodology, including outputs
- Evidence of previous related work with community groups to achieve a shared vision for their area.
- The successful candidate must be fully tax compliant as a self-employed specialist under the self assessment system.

The successful candidate will address this brief on a full-time basis working with the LEADER project team and will be provided with the necessary facilities in our offices in Fermoy, Co. Cork. The successful candidate must be fully tax compliant as a self-employed specialist in this sector. This is a one-year contract valued at €36,000.00 including VAT and all costs.
