Niall Walshe, development officer with the company said in an interview this week, “we were very pleased with the business we did last week. Our display very much focused on the kind of supports and assistance we have provided under the various Programmes under our supervision and it was pleasing to see how many people had ideas for a micro business or a start up of their own, and looking to see how we could help them get the idea off the ground”.
As well as members the public the staff also met with several high profile politicians and members of the Government who visited the LEADER Tent to see for themselves the work being carried out by the companies. Among the visitors were Minister for the Environment Mr. Phil Hogan TD, Tom Barry TD and Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin TD all of whom took time to speak with Valerie Murphy, the CEO of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership. When asked to comment on this, Valerie stated, “The interest from politicians across the spectrum was very reassuring. The work we do in local development means we build strong relationships with many local and community groups on the ground, and to have senior politicians pay interest in our work shows the value of the aid we can offer.”
