National Heritage week is now upon us and Avondhu Blackwater Partnership will be adding their newly launched Blackwater Valley Heritage Trail to the programme of events.
The event, which runs from the 20th to the 28th of August, is a celebration of the rich and varied heritage of which Ireland has world class standing, and to this end Avondhu Blackwater Partnership in response to a gap in the market have created three bus trails to showcase what North Cork has to offer.
Damien Tobin, coordinator of the Blackwater Valley Heritage Trail commented this week, “we were delighted that our Tour has been added to the National Programme for Heritage Week. It was only officially launched recently and already we have had a party from Egypt take the tour!. They visited Labbacallee, Glanworth Castle and Mill, Ballyhooly Church and Castle, the Nano Nagle Centre, Doneraile Court, and Mallow.”
Damien continues, “In today’s climate everyone needs to identify a niche for themselves in order to prosper. We have developed these three bus tours as a community enterprise to support local employment and businesses, and to open up the richness of this regions heritage. North Cork has an abundance of castles, abbeys, churches and big houses and that is what we have tapped into with our Heritage Trails.”
