Are you a Community Group, a Sporting or Cultural organisation? Do you have project or a scheme that you would like to see delivered but cannot source the workers to do it? Well if you are willing to come up with the idea Avondhu Blackwater Partnership may have the solution for you.
The TÚS Initiative is a community work placement scheme providing short-term working opportunities for unemployed people, who can utilise their skills to work on specific community based projects. Suggestions and ideas from Community, Cultural, Sporting or Social groups are now being sought to organise the work in the Avondhu Blackwater area.
The types of project eligible for the scheme may include, Energy conservation (work in homes and community buildings), Social care of all age groups and people with disabilities, Caretaking securing and supervision of community buildings and spaces, Renovation of community and sporting facilities, including the regeneration and enhancement of community, recreation and sporting spaces.
Further projects include Work in support of cultural and heritage activities, Community administration and community event management, Coaching for sporting activities and repair of equipment for the Third World – for example, farm tools, bicycles, computers, sewing machines, health equipment.
Marie O’ Brien Coordinator of the Rural Social Scheme for Avondhu Blackwater Partnership and the coordinator of the TUS scheme commented, “What we need are the local interest groups in the Fermoy, Mallow and Blarney areas to come to us with their ideas so we can secure the necessary workers. It’s a great chance to progress those projects you may have been thinking about”.
