Avondhu Blackwater Partnership welcomes Araglen Hall Launch

Friday 17th June 2011 will be a landmark day for the communities in Araglen and the surrounding areas, when the newly refurbished Community Hall is opened by Minister Simon Coveney.

Funding for this project was secured through Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, under the Rural Development LEADER programme, totalling €189,000.00

The Community Hall has been transformed into modern fully equipped facility which will provide comfortable and accessible surroundings for senior citizens groups, youth clubs and the Wednesday Club, which support people over 60 years of age and those living alone in isolated rural areas.  The hall will also be used on an ongoing basis by the Hunt Club, The Festival Committee and to hold Disco’s Dances and Community Meetings.

Speaking on completion of the project, Sean Hegarty, Chairman of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership said “it’s great when we in Avondhu Blackwater Partnership can see the fruits of a large scale project like this. A lot of the heavy lifting is naturally done by those in the communities but don’t forget our staff in Avondhu Blackwater Partnership are dedicated to ensuring that support is provided to community members to bring projects such as this to a successful conclusion. Congratulations to everyone involved
