Rural Transport Co-Ordinators meet the new Minister of State at the Department of Transport Alan Kelly TD
Avondhu Blackwater Partnership’s Rural Transport Scheme coordinator Damien Tobin met with the newly appointed Minister of State at the Department of Transport Alan Kelly TD, at a national conference of the Rural Transport Companies in Ireland.
At a national conference of Rural Transport companies the different companies discussed mutual issues and strategy planning for the coming year. The minister, who now has responsibility for public and commuter transport, acknowledged the huge success the Rural Transport Programme has been and recognised its potential going forward. He also spoke of his previous involvement with the Rural Transport Company in his own constituency of North Tipperary where he saw the positive impact that Rural Bus services are having on the ground for people of all ages.
The minister committed to meeting the Rural Transport Programme companies later in the year to discuss future strategy. Damien Tobin commented, “It was great meeting the minister so early following his appointment. In fact it was the minister’s first public event since he received his new brief and it is clear that he is very interested in the potential of the Rural Transport Programme in providing door to door transport for people of all ages and mobility levels in the future. We look forward to meeting the minister again later in the year.”
