Blackwater Community Connect Handyman Service enables older people to stay in their own homes

If you are an older person or someone with a disability and you are now beginning to find it difficult to cope with jobs that you used to do without difficulty then you may be interested in using our service.  Accessing our trustworthy handyman service means you can ensure your home is a safer place to live and that you can continue to live independently within your own home for as long as possible.  Many older people can experience falls in the home, especially if their mobility has declined, and in many cases dealing with small tasks and repairs can ensure safety in your home. This means that small jobs like garden weeding or hedge cutting can be done without costing the earth.

As we get older our ability to live independently at home can be hindered by a lack of services or safety provisions in the home.  Providing assistance in the home for some people will ultimately mean those people will not have to resort to assisted living in a care home or sheltered accommodation.  Recruiting a handyman to undertake all those outstanding maintenance or improvement tasks around the home and garden has never been easier.  Our handyman service offers practical help to older people who need repairs, safety equipment installed, garden maintenance, home maintenance, gutter and chimney cleaning etc. Small indoor and outdoor painting jobs are also undertaken.  An hourly charge of €10 applies with no call-out charge. Our handyman is Garda Vetted, fully insured and receives regular training to ensure he meets the high standards of the service.

If you think your job is too large for our handyman and you require a contractor to undertake the work then we can give you access to our register of tradespersons. Knowing that there may be ‘rogue traders’ operating in your area   If you would like to know whether our handyman can undertake a specific task please contact us at 025 33411 or email mary@avondhublackwater.com
