National Rural Development/ Teagasc Conference 2011

The National Rural Development/Teagasc Conference has been rescheduled to Wednesday the 2nd of February 2011 in the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

The National Rural Network, Teagasc and the Local Development Companies (LEADER) are delighted to jointly host this one day conference on Jobs in rural Ireland. The Rural Development Programme (2007-2013) represents a substantial investment in rural areas and has a significant role to play in sustaining and creating rural employment. The conference will highlight the potential for job creation under three main headings:
  • On Farm Employment
  • Farm Diversification
  • Collaboration & Local Job Creation

Aim of the Conference

The overall objective of the conference is to explore the potential for Farm Based and Off Farm Based job creation.  It will highlight seven areas of focus associated with the Irish Rural Development Programme (2007-2013).  In line with the structure and recommendations of the Harvest 2020 report the conference will look at both smart and green practices.  The conference will give practioners, researchers and policy makers the opportuntity to discuss the action which needs to be taken at all levels in order to fully realise the job creation potential within the Rural Development Programme
