Avondhu Blackwater Partnership in association with the community in the Aghern & Conna areas, has developed a new door-to-door night-time bus service. The official launch of this new service will take place in the Big Tree Pub, Aghern on Saturday Nov 27th at 10.00 pm. All are welcome. Live DJ and complementary finger food provided.
The service is a public bus service for everyone and people can use the service to visit friends and neighbours, to attend community events and to socialise in local public houses. All passengers are collected and dropped at their door and people of all ages travel on the bus. The bus currently operates every Friday night between 8.00 pm and 2.00 am and there is scope for expanding the service to operate on other evenings depending on local demand. The fare is only €5 single and €10 return with concessions for those under 18 years and over 65 years.
Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is also operating public bus services for everyone in the area during the daytime with a bus service every Wednesday and Saturday morning from Castlelyons, Conna, Ballynoe and Dungourney to Midleton and a bus service every Thursday morning from Conna and Castlelyons to Fermoy. There is currently a proposal from local residents for the development of a Saturday morning service from Ballynoe, Conna and Castlelyons to Fermoy.
There are some spare seats on all services so if you want to be collected at your door, daytime or night-time or if you want to travel on the bus to and from the launch in the Big Tree Pub, Aghern on Saturday Nov 27th, contact Damien in the Avondhu Blackwater office, The Showgrounds, Fermoy, Tel: 025-33411. The transport services are funded by the Rural Transport Programme as part of the National Development Plan.
