Mental Health Evening in Fermoy

The Fermoy Mental Heath committee will hold an information evening on Thursday, November 11th in the Loreto Secondary School at 7.30pm.

Speakers on the night will include Frances Black, singer and CEO of RISE Foundation, RISE provides individual and group counselling to people affected by addiction.

Also, nutritionist and mental health professional, Karen O’Mahony from Tallow will give a talk on the impact of nutrition on mental health.

Not eating properly can cause mental problems. I will be making people aware of the importance of looking after their physical health to prevent mental illness” Karen told The Avondhu.

There will be a speaker from MABS (Money Advice & Budgeting Service) on the night. MABS provide an independent, free and confidential money advice and budgeting service to people who are in debt or risk getting into debt.

GROW, which is a mental health organisation that helps people who have suffered, or are suffering, from mental health problems will have a stand on the night. Pharmacist Mike Walsh will be available to speak with people, as will Martina Munnelly, Community Drugs Worker, a representative form the Citizens Advice Bureau, Community Connect and much more.

PRO for the Fermoy MEntal Health committee, Cllr Tadhg O’Donovan told The Avondhu that everyone is welcome on the night.

We will have speakers of a high calibre and the good thing is that it’s free so we would urge as many people as possible to come along”.

Admission on the night is free and tea/coffee is kindly sponsored by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership Ltd.
