Micro Enterprise Specialist
Through the provision of a dedicated Micro Enterprise Specialist to research and lead out a strategic initiative whose aim is the establishment of a Micro Enterprise Support Programme, under the RDP. Specific aspects of this project include the provision of a dedicated Micro Enterprise Specialist, to provide technical assistance to micro businesses, including start-up businesses and prospective entrepreneurs. It is also proposed that the Micro Enterprise Support Specialist would seek to establish a network of micro enterprise owners and managers with the aim of creating a collective seedbed from within which innovation can be encouraged, leading to enhanced support infrastructure, new business proposals and products/services, and sustainable local employment.
The successful candidate will address this brief on a full-time basis working with the LEADER project team and will be provided with the necessary facilities in our offices in Fermoy, Co. Cork. The successful candidate must be fully tax compliant as a self-employed specialist in this sector. This is a one-year contract valued at €33,000.00 including VAT and all costs.

Job Specification:
Micro Enterprise Support Specialist
- To research and lead out a strategic initiative whose aim is the establishment of a Micro Enterprise Support Programme, under the RDP.
- To provide technical assistance to micro businesses, including start-up businesses and prospective entrepreneurs, with the drafting of all aspects of their Business Plans
- To provide appropriate supports towards the development of micro enterprises and general economic development of rural resources, including initiatives to promote rural/agri-tourism, environmentally friendly projects, the utilisation of natural resources and sources of alternative energy.
- To initiate and support strategic initiatives primarily in the areas of business creation, tourism, and on-farm diversification
- To develop implementation strategies and actions plans under the RDP programme
- To identify gaps in supports, skills and services within the rural business environment within the Avondhu Blackwater Partnership area
- To provide mentoring of start-up and micro businesses
- To advise on legal structure of business
- To advise on regulatory and licensing matters
- To advise on grant and bank funding applications
- To seek to establish a network of micro enterprise owners and managers with the aim of creating a collective seedbed from within which innovation can be encouraged, leading to enhanced support infrastructure, new business proposals and products/services, and sustainable local employment.
- To liaise with local and national state agencies, Business Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Accountants, Solicitors, Banks.
- To ensure open, professional and honest communication within the team environment
- To demonstrate creativity, innovation and drive within the team environment
- To animate and promote supports and grants available under the LEADER programme, particularly in any areas that may currently be under serviced
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with other programmes and agencies
- Consult and network with the business community, keeping them informed on good practice with all aspects of the RDP
- To drive innovative economic diversification through bottom-up development approaches
