The National Rural Network is delighted to host this one day conference, in conjunction with Teagasc and LEADER, entitled “Jobs in Rural Ireland: How the Rural Development Programme can create & sustain employment“. The Rural Development Programme (2007-2013) represents a significant investment in rural areas and has a significant role to play in sustaining and creating employment in rural areas.
The conference will highlight the potential for job creation under three broad headings:
- On Farm Employment
- Farm Diversification
- Collaboration & Local Job Creation
Aim of the Conference
The overall objective of the conference is to explore the potential for Farm Based and Off job creation. It will highlight seven areas of focus associated with the Irish Rural Development Programme 2007 – 2013. In line with the structure and recommendations of the Harvest 2020 report the conference will look at both smart and green practices. The conference will give practicioners, researchers and policy makers the opportunity to discuss the action which needs to be taken at all levels in order to fully realize the job creation potential within the Rural Development Programme.
